Yet another banking question

Can't Post | Private Reply
Is there any advantage to having an account at both Scotia Bank in Mexico and Scotia Bank in Canada other than the NO FEE ATMs?

Can one transfer money seamlessly between Canadian and Mexican accounts or are both bank considered independent and it would be just like wiring fees to any bank (paying fees, waiting days)

Can anyone with a relationship with Scotia Bank in Canada and Mexico speak to this ?

Thanks

I have both and there is no advantage other than the no fee atm. When I transfered money there were fees and a few days wait. The only advantage was the atm but to me that was a biggie since I originally banked with CIBC and paid $5.00 per transaction which started to really add up when I was doing renovations.

Casa,

I cannot relate to Scotia Bank .. . . but I can relate to the Inter National Bank (three separate words) Located in McAllen, Texas and the Banorte of Mexico. I many times transfer fairly significant sums of money and many times just the normal drawing of 5000 Pesos or so for general usage from my International Bank debit card. There are no fees for any wire transfers between these two banks. Banorte owns Inter National Bank. There are also several other benefits. If you are in the USA you might want to look them up on the Internet https://www.inbweb.com/ and give them a call. They are very warm and have a excellent (real live humans to speak to) customer service department. You are not required to have a Texas address and you can use your USA (any state address)

There is another bank called International Bank and this is not the same bank.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. I guess it was wishful thinking that Scotia Bank could pull credit scores from Canada to use in Mexico (or vice versa), or seamlessly transfer funds between accounts in 2 countries
