Uncle Donnie's Book

Can't Post | Private Reply
I am new to this board and this is only my second time to post but I felt the need to report...............

I didn't know who Uncle Donnie was before.......but I have come to know him just by reading the posts on this board over the last few days. When the thread about his book, HEAD FOR MEXICO, THE RENEGADE GUIDE, was posted earlier I immediately went to the site and ordered it. I received it today!! What an absolute delight to read! So far it is the most informative "how-to-move-south-of-the-border" book I have ever read. And I will tell you, I have read ALL of them. I have been collecting these books since 1999 and have gained a wealth of information from some of them. Not all of them have been exactly what they said they were......but nonetheless, I have enjoyed all. This one will go at the top of my list, though.

To Uncle Donnie:

BTW, Uncle Donnie, I live south of Austin now. We moved here from Graham, TX and used to go to the "big city" of Wichita Falls all the time!!! We will be making our move to Nayarit State in about 18 months. We will look you up when we arrive. Until then, please keep up the research.........I can't get enough info on my new "home" SoB.

Hi Becki,

Thanks for the update. I was going to wait until we got to Ajijic to buy it but you've motivated me. Nothing like a good review to whet the appetite!

Not only is it informative - we're talking details that you won't find anywhere else (I too have read everything) - but it's hilarious - as in laughing out loud!!

Uncle Donnie has a winner!!! I'm already on page 111 and I've been laughing out loud and grinning and smiling. I'm sure he'll be delighted to know that I was even reading it in the not-so-hot tub (it's summer in florida!!).

The quality of the cover photo is quite outstanding.

His description of the different rental properties he's seen or lived in is very interesting and full of tips.

I was chuckling away at the different terms of endearment he uses to tell Mr. Man of the House how to prepare a dinner for guests (by describing all the chores SHE should do!!):

these include: your bride, your lovely bride, sweetcheeks, little lady, light of your life, sweet lovin' partner, Sugar Babe, Love Blossom, Honeybuns, and "the wife." WAAAAY TOO FUNNY!!!

and then there's a warning to not let her touch any of your tender parts if she's been handling jalapenos (ROTFLMAO!)

The book is crawling with enough URLs to keep the computer manics thrilled to bits.

Can't make up my mind whether I want to get to the end quickly or savor it slowly. Well, that's moot cos I have to force myself to put it down.

(Don, you'd better post the ordering URL on this thread as I don't have it at hand.)

I think I got my book in about 4 days!!!!! It is just the best reading on the subject I have seen in a long while. While most of the books I've read on moving South of the Border are full of information.........but usually mundane reading at best. Facts, only facts..........However, Uncle Donnie's book IS factual it is also just flat out, straight up funny. Much easier for me to remember something that has either made me laugh or cry. And I do both while reading this book!! I generally can't remember which book I may have read a certain bit of information in that I might need to recall............but believe me, I'll know which one to reference in the future. Great reading even if you don't have plans of moving south.

Becki

(Psssst........Uncle Donnie, are these enough reviews are do we need to keep posting?) Ha.
