US Citizen retired in Mexico

Are there any documents or notices to be given to the US gov. (i,e, US Consulate or other) if one decides to stay in retirement in Mexico ?

Same question for a person that is 'naturalized' US Citizen ?

Thanks,

Ignacio in sunny Veracruz

In addition to the obvious one, of notifying any governmental agencies from whom you're receving a benefit (social security etc.), the US Department of State encourages you to register with the nearest US Embassy or Consulate, so that you can be contacted in case of emergency (and if you register your passport, so that replacement passports can be more easily issued in cases of loss). You can read additional information regarding registration, privacy controls associated with the information, and their general tips for living abroad here.
