If you are even halfway serious about moving to Mexico, you should subscribe to Mexconnect and to the Aim newsletter. The AIM newsletter will give you lots of ideas of different places to live, and cost of living info. Mexconnect is good in terms of getting answers to questions. I have not seen any other sources of info that are terribly useful. I do not generally recommend people move to Mexico planning to work. Aside from the difficulty of getting a work permit, wages are much lower than the US or Canada. I know some people do it. The best solution from a financial situation is to get paid in first world dollars and telecommute. In other words, get a job in the US, telecommute using the internet, get paid in US dollars, but live in Mexico. Probably not feasible with your careers. The other comment is that you should try out Mexico for size before you look to move permanently. We went down for a month and decided not to move to Mexico, nice place to visit, but not our cup of tea for full time. For those planning to live in Mexico, one of the best sources for information, especially on the cost of living, is the AIM (Adventures in Mexico) newsletter. It has a practical focus, with each issue covering a different town or area. $19 per year, Apartado Postal 31-70, Guadalajara, Jalisco, 45050, Mexico. (My 2002 renewal included an envelope addressed to 1761 Hotel Circle S, Suite 100, San Diego, CA, 92108, USA). Ask for the back issue list. Some issues include houshold budgets by readers and residents, to give one a better view of actual living costs. They do not have a website. Good luck, http://www.fergusonsculpture.com
