Spoke to a friend today

Actually it was in email.
The person told me that that when they landed in Cancun they were threatened by authorities(they did not say which authorities) The threat had to do with owning a home without an FM3.
I don't know how they knew they had a house unless they mentioned it. They did not go into detail except to say that a facilitator when was told what happened said they were looking to extort money.
They are using a facilitator in getting their FM3.
I personally find this type of activity just plain repugnant. The Fide. are official documents and could not be obtained if it was illegal to own a home without an FM3 I would not have given then squat.
I don't think they did either but not sure.

Tony:

If you have not learned by now from your research that: "the only consistency in Mexico is it's inconsistency", you will learn after your move. It is part of the challenge, the education and the fun! Once one accepts this as fact, the stress goes away and the laughter starts.

Al your friend had to do was show the agent the back of an FMM where it states in the last paragraph that the holder has the right to open a bank account in Mexico and to buy real estate...
