Relocating to Puerto Vallarta

Could use some opinions/advice from people living in PV: My husband and I have opposite tastes..he likes the south side, up in the hills near Amapas where there is a killer view of the jungle and bay. The condo developments are smaller there. I like the north shore, on the beach in one of the mega-developments (condo to be built) with lots of amenities. He has a feeling the large units will be turned into time shares. So many decisions and factors about what to do. Any advice for people considering real estate purchases? Do you know anything about the developers of Punta Esmeralda?

Thanks.

Lauri

Try http://pub69.ezboard.com/btodopuertovallarta. My condo is in Olas Altas. I HATE the north side, but that's just me. The PV forums will be more useful.

Thanks for you response. My husband was happy to hear there was one vote to support his point of view. What is it you hate about the North side? Just curious....

I like the city life--with all the funkiness. The south side is Mexico (I live in Mexico fulltime--just not in PV). The north side and Nueva Vallarta could be anywhere in the world--nothing particularly Mexican about it. Some gated areas of the north side discourage Mexicans from entering--not my kind of place.

We agree with you that the south side has more of the feel of old Mexico. We are still looking at properties. We have animals ( a dog and 2 cats which we intend to bring) and it seems that a lot of places do not accept pets. Causing a bit of a problem for us. Any suggestions?

My condo does not permit pets--and most don't, especially three pets. Some do allow cats. You might have to rent/but a house to keep your pets. Most condo owners rent to others at least part of the time, so permitting pets gets very complicated and creates a lot of problems.
