I recently saw Guanajuato city (and the entire area of SMA and Dolores Hidalgo) for the first time. They are beautiful areas, truly. I really want an active tennis community and it may be relevant to say that I have no preference for any nationality. I just want good tennis players who are nice folks. I thought Guanajuato was especially beautiful, but SMA I think is expnsive. I'd appreciate any info you have on active tennis networks around this area. Thanks again.

The tennis players are all around town, regardless of the town, Bob. You just have to look and ask. Yes, these are great places to live and have a life. You have to put an effort into making it happen. I'm glad you enjoyed your first visit. Perhaps the next time you can take the time to take time and find out what you want out of life here.

Some of the nicest smiles I have ever seen in my life, including the ones I saw in Japan while living there. I look fotward to learning more about living in Mex in the central mounts area.

I went down to the very nice clay courts at the Malanquin (spelling) Golf club just on the edge of town - SMA. The players/members there were quite friendly and invited me to play. I estimate the level of play was generally advanced/intermediate or slightly better. You will need a car or taxi to the courts from SMA center. It's only about 2 miles or so to the Golf Club/Tennis Club Malanquin. All of the players were local players who spoke at least very decent English. The most important issue though was how polite they were and strong players. Please assemble data on Tennis throughout Guanajuato from your experiences to share with others. I do not know of a place to have racquets retrung there. I would take 2 racquets. Also, at 6,000 fett, you will likely play with pressureless balls. Typical pressured balls (in a can) would fly about a mile or so if you hit them!

I am still waiting to know of any local Tennis players and courts in or near Guanajuato city itself.
