Prorroga (extension) of my FM3. Extension #3 of 5

Hello everybody,

What a pleasant experience the new procedures have been. I began on October 17 with my computer going first to Rolly's sticky The New INM Forms Demystified (maybe)

Then I went to the Spencer provided form to fill out all the personal data required. Then back to the official solicitation form and I followed Spencer's and Rolly's recommendations religiously. I was then given my processing number and key word to follow the processing. All on the computer.

Next, I got my bank statements for the last three months, my proof of residence, and I made copies of the pertinent pages of my Passport (only the page with the picture and data) and also copies of my FM3. Then I went and got four infantile pictures in color of my front (no glasses) and four of my right profile (no earrings-also in my case no hearing aid) and with all those and the filled out copy of the personal data form I went to Immigration office here in Zacatecas and presented everything.

There, since I was the first client that morning, I was attended immediately by a really knowledgeable young man who went through all my papers. He asked: "Where is your letter stating your reasons for wanting to live in México?" I replied that I didn't know it was necessary. "No le hace", he said. I'll work one up for you. Then he took the original of my LAST month's bank statement (not translated into Spanish, not apostiled), my pictures (2 each, but he said I needed 3 each), one copy of my proof of residence, one copy of my Passport and put them in a pile to file, and of course my FM3 document. . He gave me all other copies back. Then he said "OK, we can process everything, here is a document you need to take to a bank HERE IN ZACATECAS CITY and pay $1294 pesos. "Bring that document back with the bank's endorsement and we will give you a PIN so you can follow processing of your papers." So off to the bank. On return, a young lady at a different window finally gave me the PIN number together with a letter saying to return on the 22nd of October at 10:30 AM WITH THE SET OF MISSING PHOTOS to pick up my NO INMIGRANTE document to continue as a temporary resident here in México. I did that this morning (the 22nd) getting there at 10:00 AM. Everything was ready. I signed three copies of the same form, two copies of another, had my right and left thumb prints taken and was finally given my new credential.

The first visit I was out of the office in an hour and a half. This second visit I was out of the office in 20 minutes.

Now we all know that each office operates in a different manner. You may not be so fortunate as I was. But all in all the extension of my FM3 this year was "pan comido" in comparison with all the years past. Thanks to Rolly and to Spencer.

Hasta luego, jerezano

....I'm dying to know about that third set of photos! When you returned to pick up your new visa, did she keep the "missing photos"?

Hello all,

Yep. Remember I had been told when I showed up with two infantile sets of colored photos (2 full face no glasses, and two right profile with no earpiece) that I should have brought three sets. In the past I would have been sent home and told to come back when I had everything. This time, they went ahead with the processing and told me to bring in the missing set when I went to pick up my document. So, I gave a young man (this time) my appointment letter and actually two more sets (instead of one) of photos. He kept everything and gave me after signing some more documents and taking my thumbprints, my credential.

So, here in Zacatecas you need three sets of photos instead of two as I had been led to believe.

Hasta luego, jerezano
