Prescription drug availability, price

My wife and I are in the process of assessing our situation re: retirement to Mexico and when we can do it. To factor into that equation, is there a source of information on what prescription drugs are available in Mexico, and (ideally) some information on prices? Thanks.

Here is one online pharmacy where you might find your drugs. It's in Mazatlan and delivers locally. They have prices listed also. However, sometimes you can get cheaper prices than they advertise by checking around.

You can also get generic drugs. A "generics" store recently opened in Chapala and while they do not have everything what they do have seems to be very cheap.

In Mazatlan we have a group of farmacias called "Farmacia Similares" . Their prices are sometimes half of what you'd pay elsewhere probably because they are in the generic drug business.

Where in Chapala is the generic store located? We just paid 150 pesos for four pills at one Ajijic drugstore while the other had the generic for 30 pesos for the pills. The inexperienced clerk told us that they didn't have the generic (turns out that they did, but we had already paid the 150 pesos at the other store). It would be nice to find a store where they are cognizant of what drugs they carry. Thanks.

The store "Farmacia Similares" is located on the East side of Madero (the main N/S street) in the block North of the plaza.
