Full article here http://www.oregonlive.com/...es_missing_in_m.html Daniel Zavala left Portland for Mexico in spring 2010, chasing a dream of returning with his wife Gloria and their three children to the country where he was born and raised. The Zavalas communicated almost daily while Daniel, 44, worked to set up a seafood restaurant with his two brothers. The couple, both naturalized U.S. citizens, chatted on the Internet or talked by phone. Daniel would fill Gloria in on the fledgling business and Monclova, a bustling city in the border state of Coahuila. She would tell him about work, their North Portland home and their children, Dennise, 21, Daniel Jr., 13, and Heidi, 12. Then there was silence. On April 24, 2010, nearly a month after Daniel Zavala left Portland, his hometown for more than two decades, Gloria Zavala got a text message from a family friend wondering if Gloria had heard from Daniel. He hadn't returned home from work the night before, the friend said. Ominously, the brothers' restaurant seemed to have emptied out in a hurry. Food remained on plates. Fans whirred overhead. The television was on. The door was locked. Friends found no signs of Daniel. His brothers, too, had vanished. And so began a Portland family's lonely quest for answers to the mystery: What happened to Daniel Zavala?
