Out latest trip across the border

'Just thought I'd share our latest border crossing experience. On January 9th we crossed the border into Mexico at Laredo, TX after spending the holidays with loved ones and friends in Colorado, Kansas and Texas.

We had bought quite a few things (the norm, right?) and John stopped at the border and went in to declare the larger items (a light/fan, an electric floor cleaner and a tile saw), but the customs agent said, "Pasale" so on we went. When we got to the regular inspection site down the road, we fortunately got a green light so we were home free.

John's brother was following us in a Jeep Cherokee pulling a trailer (got temp permits for both.) We had spent the night before in Laredo and John strongly urged his brother to make a list of all the items they were bringing in--a compressor, two bicycles, some large rugs and I don't know what all, but it was a load of used items). They were really tired and didn't want to make the list, but stayed up till 1:00 a.m. making the list with the values. They were so glad they did because the customs officials just looked at the list, not at any of the items, charged them $100 and they were on their way in less than 15 minutes at a very reasonable cost.
