Orchids

Made the move, living the life and am seeking some detailed information about which varieties of orchids will thrive in our new home in Puerto Vallarta. In local nursery shops, there seem to be plenty of offerings taken from the wild, but I am a rookie and don't know what I am getting, thusly ignorant as to care, what to expect, what seasonal changes occur, etc. Can anyone suggest sources of information about this?

I have a friend here, "Guy the orchid guy", from whom I have bought many orchids. You may see him walking around the south part of town with a basket of orchids on his shoulder. His cell phone did not work yesterday, but if you e-mail me, I'll give you the number.
