Moving to Mexico with Pet Birds

There is a fairly old thread on this subject with some disturbing information. I thought I'd check to see if there is any new information. We still have our parrot and we still want to bring her to Mexico when we retire. Is this possible? The bird was born in Mississippi but she is a breed that is native to Mexico. Has anybody made the move recently with a pet parrot?

I know that you will find information on bringing your bird in to Mexico - I thought I had the information bookmarked but cannot find it. Your biggest problem may be should you ever decide that you want to return NOB. A poster on a Chapala area forum recently discovered that his bird, born in the US, and legally imported to Mexico, cannot return to the US because during its time here, its species has been declared endangered. A heartbreaking situation.

I wish you luck in bringing your bird in.

Here is a link to the post from that fellow on Inside Lakeside. You can contact him and find out what the requirements are to bring it in. He is quite knowledgeable on the rules and regs.
