Mexican vs US clothing sizes

My wife and I are trying to get a handle on Mexican women's clothing sizes equivalencies for US clothes.

Could anyone be so kind as to enlighten us on what a size 32 woman's Mexican size would be in a US size?

Thanks;

A size 32 Mexican should convert to a size 8 American. But that's only a "should." Look carefully at the place of manufacture. And even that may not be enough, because a) the manufacturer may have been using a foreign, i.e. American or European pattern, b) the manufacturer may have shrunk the marker, and c) there still remains a great variation due to style and making the wearer feel good about wearing a small size.

Below is a guide, but it's still not foolproof. Better to try on a garment or use a measuring tape.

CLOTHING GUIDE, USA to Mexican sizes.
- Women's Dress: 6=30, 8=32, 10=34, 12=36, 12=36, 14=38, 16=40
- Men's Shirt: 14=36, 14.5=37, 15=38, 15.5=39, 16=40, 16.5=41
- Shoe sizes: 5=3, 6=4, 7=5, 8=6, 9=7, 10=8
(Example: A size 5 shoe in the USA would equal a size 3 shoe here)

And don't forget the materials - they may not be what you're used to in the U.S. I bought some great slacks here in Ajijic, lovely white cloth that wouldn't wrinkle. They were a bit too long, so I had them taken up. After happily wearing them a few times, I washed them (washable material) and ended with pants up above the ankle bone. They have not shrunk at all since, but I laugh at myself every time I wear them, and resolve never to have anything altered until it has been washed. You just never know.
