Mention My Name in Xalapa

Can't Post | Private Reply
I realize most of the retirees who use this forum live in the vicinity of Lake Chapala and Guadalajara. By any chance, is there anyone who has retired in or around Xalapa (Jalapa) or Veracruz? I would be interested in hearing about their experiences.

On the Mexico Connect membership list (via "Who's on Line"), the first name that appears is "El Gringo Jalapeño" - Roy Dudley. His web page and e-mail address are listed. I am also interested in that neck of the woods, and have found Roy to be gracious and helpful.

Thanks. I had written to Roy a few months back. I hadn't realized he was also on mexicoconnect. I know he's an old hand in Xalapa.

No living gringo knows Jalapa as well as Roy Dudley, a.k.a. "El Gringo Jalapeño," does. And he gives marvelous orientation seminars, described at http://www.xalapa.net/roy/.

¡Mil gracias! Thanks for the kind words from everyone about me and "mi querida Xalapa". I've been somewhat of a "lurker" on Mexico Connect for the past year without doing more articles due to many factors, one of the most enjoyable is our new granddaughter and our soon to be new grandson. Next to my computer there's a stack of books and information for future articles about Naolinco, Jalcomulco, Teocelo, Villa Rica, Quiaxiutlan, El Tajín, Cordoba, Orizaba, Fortin, Las Tuxtlas, etc.,etc. and an update on Xalapa that's bursting its seams with growth ("The Chilangos are coming, the Chilangos are coming!")...if only I could convince my daughter to come back so our grandkids could be here!!!). Anyway, please keep nudging me to get busy between Wedding and XV años coverage to get the articles done.
