Major Medical Plans -- Which One?

Could you share with us what Major Medical Plan you chose, and why? This is a great concern for those of us thinking of moving "south of the border" soon.

I believe there was a long thread on this subject a few months ago. I'm sure you could find it if you do a search on Mexconnect.A lot of people in the Chapala area, including myself, had major medical insurance though NYLife/Seguros Monterrey via the LCS. 2 years ago, there was a problem with that and I found another option. I have my health insurance with ING now. The plan is similar to the original group plan offered by NYLife. For me, in June'03, it cost $8541pesos for the Superior Plan. I have a $20,000peso deductible. If I use the hospitals and the doctors in their plan, I have no other out-of-pocket expenses. If I use out of the plan services, I have to pay up front and get reimbursed. Gracias a Dios, I have not had to use the insurance, so I can't say how it actually functions, but I believe they have the best hospitals and doctors in Guadalajara in their plan. My contact person for my insurance is a lovely English-speaking young man, Jesus Tejeda, email is jtejeda17@hotmail.com Linda

I sell insurance for Grupo Inbursa and the prices are very good. You have to talk to an agent who will provide you with a policy that will be tailored to your needs. They also offer International plans and emergency international plans.
