Living conditions in Cholula?

Can't Post |
Hello,

I am considering a one-month summer appointment at Universidad de las Americas Puebla (UDLAP), in Cholula. I have been to many parts of Mexico but not there. I am planning on bringing my wife and young child along. Most likely, we would be staying in a University-provided apartment on campus.

I would like to know what it is like to live in the Cholula/Puebla area, and whether there are any serious public safety concerns I need to worry about. Also, if anyone is familiar with the UDLAP campus and would like to share their opinion, that would be very helpful.

Thank you!

I worked at the University of the Americas 30 years ago. I can't tell you what it's like to work there now, but I went back and visited a year ago and it's a beautiful campus. Thirty years ago I went for a summer (3-month) appointment and stayed for three years. I really enjoyed my time there. I remember the campus housing was very nice. I lived in Cholula and had a great house there (which I had built). Sorry I can't tell you more about the present situation. Cholula seemed a lot calmer last year than it was when I lived there. Thirty years ago it had a wild west atmosphere and we were the first foreigners that almost everyone in Cholula had ever seen. The markets were wonderful and the people were very friendly.
