Life Planning in Jalisco (or elsewhere in Mexico)

Life Planning in Jalisco is a publication and a blog..... that can be found at www.lifeplanninginjalisco.wordpress.com

Jalisco is the main focus, but much of the information, especially on the durable powers of attorney from other Mexican states or from NOB, is relevant anywhere in Mexico. The Emergency Information Guidelines are useful to you no matter where you live.

So, what's in the publication?
Emergency Information Guidelines to help you get into place what you need for someone to manage your affairs, or manage you, in the event of an emergency, or short or long-term incapacitation!

What kind of questions?
Well, who takes care of the dog(s)?
Who takes care of you?
Who knows all the medications you are taking?
Who knows what hospital you want to go to or if you have any insurance?
Who knows if there are any powers of attorney or health care directives?
Who knows who to call NOB?
If caregivers are NOB, can they get to you in Mexico in a timely manner?
If they do get to Mexico to provide some help, how long can they stay?
How do you set up an emergency contact system?
What goes into an emergency wallet card?
Who speaks for you when you cannot speak for yourself?

Got the idea? There's a lot to cover.

Part II of the publication looks specifically at durable powers of attorney for health and finances, and the Mexican federal end-of-life legislation. The systems here in Mexico, and especially in Jalisco, are a lot different from what we know NOB.

Part III gives some guidelines in how to put an emergency information binder together so that someone knows where to find it and how to use it to help you when you need help.

The final section lists interviews, resources, references and more reflecting 3 plus years of work in trying to present a good quality product that is useful for all of us!

The publication is 35 pages and is available in electronic or hard copy form.

So, what's the purpose of the blog????
Well, the blog supports the publication. If you take a look at some of the posts, they are smaller segments of the publication. In some cases, the posts enhance and expand the publication or just present what's in the publication.

While the publication is for sale, the blog posts can be viewed and comments made without purchasing the publication.

Take a look at the blog at www.lifeplanninginjalisco.wordpress.com. Post a comment or question or any feedback.

It's has been quite a while since I originally posted .... Information on Life Planning in Jalisco is now available on Facebook under Life Planning in Jalisco.

Publications are still available at Diane Pearl's shop on Ocampo and Colon in Ajijic, at the Law office of Azucena Bateman in Ajijic and at Integrity Medical Offices (next to the car wash) on the Libramiento. They are still $200mx.

Also, there's a new post on the facebook page about using LastPass as a secure site for your passwords, especially all of your financial pins, passwords and account numbers that you want secure. Another aspect of the program is that you can share the file ..... with, for example, if you have adult children or family members outside of Mexico that you to have access to all of this key information, you can set it up so that they can get access electrically to the information especially in an emergency.

I'm also working with Spencer's office to see if he will start providing a DNR Order which is available through both federal and state legislation here in Jalisco. And, I'm working separately to see if we can get into place a Mexican federal health care directive for palliative care that can be made available for a very low fee ... all based exactly on the legislation and only has to be signed by two witnesses. The document does not have to be prepared by an attorney or notario, and does not have to be signed by a Jalisco state notario (this all comes out of the legislation ..... ).

Saludos....
