Hi, Not sure if this falls under anyones expertise but so often there is someone out there that knows all the answers!! I know that there are very strict laws with regards to firing of employees - and there is a certain amount due for length of employment. I am currently involved with a nonprofit group that has had an employee for 4 years. This individual has been a problem for some time now, and they are fairly sure they have also been stealing. They are looking for a way to let them go but not sure how the regulations would work. Does their nonprofit status make any difference in severance pay? To make sure I understand the law correctly - basically an employee can come in late every day, do nothing while working, treat others poorly and not be subject to being terminated without having to offer them months worth of pay? Seems insane, but perhaps this is one of those cases where the goverment finally decided to do something about the rights of its citizens and just went overboard. Gracias y Feliz Ano Nuevo! Mexigrl
