Iraq war/American residents in Mexico

Sittin here in the states and we hear on the radio/tv of the great (80%) anti-american sentiment by the mexican people to the war on Iraq. Is there any public anti-american sentiment in the day-to-day interactions non-mexicans experience as they live there? I can't imagine it but am curious.

Do not equate anti-war sentiment with anti-American sentiment. One can exist without the other.

Historically there have been many Americans who do not support war and are Pro USA. When I say Americans I also include all people of the North and South America continents. Personally I would do all things to avoid war up to a real attack on national security.

Here in Oaxaca the anti war effort has made the headlines a couple of times. In one it was Fox pledging untiring work for peace. In the other it was Carlos Fuentes reminding us (US) that Mexico is a sovereign country. On the wall near where we live a "ALTO A LA GUERRA" graffiti appeared day before last.

No one seems to be asking, "how do you get Sadam into line without actually threatening him?" Itīs pretty easy to be for peace, harder to actually deal with doing something. "Che" T-shirts are popular here.

I asked an acquaintance here in Ajijic about how he felt. As far as he was concerned it wasn't his problem, he had no opinion, and frankly didn't give a damn

Keith says......"No one seems to be asking, "how do you get "Any body"(changed by arbon) into line without actually threatening him?" Itīs pretty easy to be for peace, harder to actually deal with doing something."

Hypothetically speaking of course,If the "Mexican Police" go to arrest a "Suspect" who they think is armed & dangerous, with a search warrant in hand,& the "Suspect" allows the police to search the premises,if the police find nothing.....then what?

If the "Mexican Police" shot & kill a "Suspect", who they think is armed & dangerous,& NO Weapon is found .....then what ?

Of course when "Mexican Suspects" are attacked they will use what they have to defend themselves,....if they don't have any defense, they would surrender, it should end "Quickly" with handshakes all round "Right"???
