Can I sign up in TJ(live in No Calif) this August giving friends address in Quadiljara as I plan first visit there in the fall for possible retirement relocation in spring....thanks, Brian

I first signed up for IMSS with a tourist visa--so maybe you can, too. It sounds stupid, but bring your BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!. Also, passport, tourist visa and a current comprombante from your friend.

GPK: by'comprombante' what proof from friend do you think sufficient: signed or notarized letter from friend that am or will temporily live at his address. I'll ask local consulate too....thanks,Brian

"Comprombante" just means an ORIGINAL phone or electricity receipt--it DOES NOT have to have your name on it.
