FM3 airline paperwork

Can't Post | Private Reply
Simple questions for my simple mind:
I the past, I have traveled to MX on a tourist visa. As such, the airline provides the form I fill-out and present upon landing. My next trip, I will have an FM3 visa I received in the USA. When I land in MX with my FM3 visa, what (if any) paperwork should I fill-out on the airplane? I have scoured the Internet and can’t seem to find an answer. Thanks in advance for your help...

You will need to fill out the customs form, but not the tourist (FMT) form. Your FM3 and USA passport are the immigration documents you will need.

Thanks and that makes sense. Since the FM3 is the “visa” - does the airline rebate or not charge the $20 they add to every ticket towards paying for the tourist visa? You are welcome to call me naive.

Gary, getting your money back should be possible, but it usually is such a hassle that most of us gave up long ago. The issue has been discussed here http://www.mexconnect.com/...cgi?post=19226#19226 and lots of other posts http://www.mexconnect.com/...p;sb=score&mh=25

Yep, just fill out the customs stuff and take your FM3 to the counter. BUT, remember, you have to validate your FM3 within (I think) 30 days of your first arrival, which, for me, meant going to the Immigration Office in Tepic (I'm in Nayarit), and then having them tell you it will take 3 weeks to get it processed (which involves, I shit you not, getting a stamp and a signature in your FM3). But, if you tell them you HAVE to leave in XX days, they seem to be willing to accomodate you without issue.

And, remember to get you visa renewed within 30 days of its expiration (before it expires), or face a nice little fine (or whatever it was; it was about $125 (US) for me) if you are late). Having an FM3 is cool, and has advantages, but at a cost.

That's all I know.
