Exporting to US

Can't Post | Private Reply
Hello, I am New to this forum and am interested in doing, as Im sure a billion others have been and done, arts and crafts from Mexico to the US for resale

What is the legal process in mexico, or the US (Calif)
for that matter.

Any advice/warnings, etc? I am thinking maybe talavera, some huichol stuff (yarn paintings & beaded objects). I would start very small scale and make enough to make frequent trips to MX.

Thank you in advance,

Grasshopper

Hi Grasshopper,

I don't have an answer to your question, but I have had a small view of the process.

I have a Mexican friend in my town in Mexico who exports pottery to the USA. I helped him fill out a bunch of papers for the authorities on both sides of the border. My recollection is that there was a fair amount of paperwork, but is was not very complicated. I believe my friend got all the forms from the customs authorities of Mexico and the USA.

I don't know if he needed the help of a lawyer. If you don't get a better answer to your question, I'll go talk with my friend about the process.
