We travel to Mexico every year and take a Clumber Spaniel with us in the car. Clumbers have a lot the same breathing problems as Bulldogs (short pushed-up muzzles) and she's fine in the car. You may have to drive down with your Bulldogs. We use a sun shade on the windshield and a fan that attaches to her crate when we are parked, a spare crate pad for emergencies, air conditioning when we're moving, and we stay at pet friendly motels throughout the US and Mexico. The most difficult part is to find a shady spot to park the car when we eat lunch and when the sun is the hottest. You can also buy ice packs that last for hours to put under the crate pad. We take bottled water with us and buy more on the road at Safeway and other large grocery stores. Because we only have 2 1/2 days to drive in Mexico we take bottled water over the border from the US for her to drink until we reach our destination in Mexico. Once settled into our place in Mexico, she drinks only bottled water. We have a couple of good vets in San Miguel as well as a great lady who boards her when we take a side-trip out of San Miguel.
