ESL instruction in Mexico

Can't Post |
Anyone out there an ESL instructor? I would love to relocate to Mexico as an ESL instructor and would like to talk to someone who is doing this now to get a feel for how it would be. Are there many opportunitites? What qualifications did you need? What are the salaries/benefits like? How complicated was it to arrange?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can talk to me about this!

Hola Carmen,

Teaching English in Mexico has been discussed on this website many times. Try the two search engines. In the brown bar near the top of the page Search Posts will do just that. The Search button in the blue bar at the top will search the articles in the archive. But searches will turn up a lot of useful information for you.

Hi Carmen,

This doesn't address contacting ESL teachers directly but if you'll go to the home page and look at the author's index and click on Don Adams you should find a four-part article I wrote regarding teaching ESL in Mexico.

Good luck, and if you come I'm sure you'll have an interesting experience.

ESL means English as a Second Language, basically an English instructor. It seems to be a good way to fund my travel bug...

As for the tips provided by the other posters, THANKS! I had attended an info session from a TEFL school and they would not give out any links/tips/etc for where to do some research, they asked that you take the course first and then they would try and hook you up. I had spent a few hours searching before I came across this sight, and the info I have been provided here was well worth the search. Don Adam's article was very informative and provided links to other great websites. I am well on my way to finding answers to my questions, so:

THANKS AGAIN! :)
