Does Anyone Know?

Does anyone one know if sea salt can be used in place of iodized salt in water softeners? Are the results the same or is the ionization of the salt an important ingredient? I am looking at getting one for my travel trailer as the water in McAllen, TX area is very hard.

Thanks for any tips.

I don't know about sea salt, but ice cream freezer salt will definitely work. I'm pretty certain that iodized salt is NOT necessary for water softeners.
