City Living in Guadalajara

Can't Post |
I will be planning to spend several months or longer in Guadalajara and will be studying at the University of Guadalajara. I am not interested in living in either Ajijic or the Lake Chapala area, particularly due to the distance from the university and the city. I have made some contacts here about apartment rentals in Guadalajara but as yet don't know this city. I realize, though, that the center of town is congested and polluted, but would like to know if anyone here knows of parts of the city that are a little greener, less congested, and potentially quieter, and yet not too far from the UDG by public transportation. Places like Tlaquepaque or Zapopan sound nice, but are probably rather expensive and not close enough to my campus (C.E.P.E), which I believe is centrally located. Any viewpoints from people who actually live or have recently lived in the city of Guadalajara would be welcome! Thanks. What's the weather like during the months July to October?

You should contact the Vancouver Language School that is near the university to see if they could recommend possible accomodations. I know they find places for their students around that area and they also have students living with mexican families if that interests you.

If you wanted to get further away from the center of the city I would go to Zapopan and check the area between Av. de la Patria and Juan Palomar using Av. Vallarta as your center starting point. I would check out colonias Jardines Vallarta and Real Vallarta. These are nice areas and are close to parks, shopping and Av. Vallarta for bus transportation downtown (35 - 40 minutes).
