Buying Property in Ensenada

Can't Post |
We're still kicking around the idea of retiring to Mexico and have been doing some research, etc. I'm still somewhat confused as to whether we can "own" coastal property in somewhere like Ensenada. I'm sure there's an answer out there but I'm just not finding it. Can anyone help clarify this?

We would like to be relatively close to the U.S. but still with a fair about of ex-pats and somewhere near the water. Any recommendations from all of you as to where we might concentrate our efforts in looking?

Thanks much!

JanT:

If you go to the web site "gringo gazette.com" and click on the "Northern" issue, the front page of the current issue starts an article on owning property in Mexico, the legalities, limitations and best way to proceed. Every issue of the Gazette has an article on ownership. Hope you find what you need.

If you do decide to buy, I advise against dealing with Denise Cruz Realtor. She gave us verrrry bad advice which, fortunately, we did not take. If you are interested in a lovely residential area that is NOT "Gringo gulch," make sure you check out Loma Dorada on Rte 1 on the southern edge of the town, just behind (toward the ocean) the Hospital. If you have other questions, let me know and I'll try and respond.
