Bank of America ATM puzzlement

Can't Post | Private Reply
I am getting bizarre reports from both Scotiabank and Santander ATM machines.
They report that I have over $100,000 pesos in my BofA account.
When I check with BofA online, it tells me I have just what I think I have,
not anything like the ATMs are reporting.
Both Mexican banks insist that their numbers are correct, which of course they are not.

Have you had this kind of problem with your BofA card?

Bank of America has been experiencing ongoing problems with their online banking for a couple of weeks. Could be related to that?

Secondly a group of hackers today released embarrassing email docs re: B of A. Wouldn't be any surprise if their system has been hacked in retaliation:

I just had the same thing happen to me when I made a withdrawal from my Bank of America account at a ScotiaBank ATM machine a couple of hours ago. The "current balance" amount was wildly inflated compared to what BofA reports when I log in to my account on-line.

For fun I began playing with numbers, using my account balance in dollars and today's US$ --> MX peso exchange rate (11.8942 via Yahoo! Finance). I found if I multiplied my balance as reported online by BofA by that exchange rate figure, and then multiplied the result by that exchange rate figure AGAIN, the second result came within 10 pesos of the amount reported on the ATM receipt as my "saldo actual". Coincidence?

I suspect this is a bug in the software that runs Mexico's ATM network, but it certainly could be on BofA's side, too...

FWIW,

I've been watching BOA online carefully because I did have that same thing happen twice since last week.
