A business lesson in Mexican agency thinking....

Can't Post |
When I left Mexico Friday, it was after having signed a ledger entry for my corporation with a notary and my lawyer, who had turned in income statements, etc. to the government. I have been renting since last December and the lawyer has copies of all the receipts. The agency in Q. Roo said that was not proof enough that I have an address in Mexico. Now, I had tried to get a postal box, an address, but the postmaster wanted a utility bill. But there aren't split meters on my landlady's compound as she runs a restaurant in the compound, well - I wouldn't want the bill. Or an FM 3, he said, which comes after the incorporartion. So the lawyer calls today and says they will accept a lease - a backdated lease - to prove that I have an address. Now, rental receipts were not proof, but his document, which my lawyer is authorized under a power-of-attorney to enter into on my behalf, will do the trick. My partner thought it strange. I think it is normal!
