2 Questions about Puerto Vallarta...

My husband and I have an eye on fleeing Silicon Valley, and we are considering a move to PV. We have two daughters: one in high school, and one in elementary school. Can anyone give me specific information regarding American or British schools in the area. Any personal experience anyone may have with a specific school would be great. I have heard complaints about the "American School", which I believe is also the most expensive. Also, any info on tuition/fees?

Second, does anyone have any first-hand experience in setting up a business in PV? We are considering a bike sales/rental/guide shop. I know of a couple others in the area, and we would want to provide services not already offered.

Alternatively, my husband is a BSEE, currently a director at a Silicon Valley tech firm. I know it's tough for foreigners to work in Mexico, but... any suggestions?

I am self-employed as a liquidator of retail overstock. I've looked into expanding my own business into Mexico, but export/import duties/restrictions/etc make it all but impossible :(

(meanwhile, we're doing our best to learn Spanish!)

Thanks! ~Deborah

Go to
