retiring with young children to Mexico

In the process of adopting two grandchildren(girls 8,5) and would like to retire to the Guadalajara/Lakeside area.Lived there about 15 years ago for 4years and always planned to return .Entered girls app 3years ago. We meet the mim.income(app$3000) with some increase annually.Does anyone know of families with English speaking children in the area?We think that might help in the adjusting until they learn more Spanish.Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks,Marian

After travelling with our daughter for extended trips (usually around a little over one month at a time) when she was between 8 and 12 years old, we found that there were no problems whatsoever with Spanish speaking children her age. I wouldn't worry about having English speaking children for them to play with. They'll adjust quickly and probably be happier with the locals. They'll have a larger network to draw from and will learn quicker than you can imagine.

Thanks Esteban,Know they will learn quickly, just trying to decide if we want the "BIG CITY" where there are schools with classes in English and kids in the English church services.or be totally immerged in with the locals. We are from Texas so they can speaks a little Spanish but TexMex not true Spanish.Lived in Chapalita before and even the maids wanted to speak /learn English. My Spanish only improved when we move to a tiny pueblita and had to "sink or swim".Have lost a lot of my Spanish since returning to states but hopfully it will come back .Thanks again,Marian
