pawn shops

What can you tell me about pawn shops in Mexico? Is it a practice to leave your stuff in a pawn shop or buy from the same place.I,ve lived in Africa and every first of the month people are going to a new place(to rent)and moving from area to area in the city and what they do is leaving behing the old stuff in a pawn shops if the new rental is furnished or they just go and buy a new for the new house. In case than you are moving to an unfurnished apartment you can start by purchasing basicly anything from a pawn shop.It is kinda equivalent on a Value Villige in Canada, only cheaper and it has not only clothes but hi-fi;s tv;s beds,tables,etc..So my question is -

1.is it a practice in Mexico to call the pawn shop owner for a pricing on your items at home or not

2. how many pawn shops are there in Guad

3.What can you buy from them and if you don not -why?

Monte de Piedad is Mexico's national pawnshop, with branches all over the Republic. See http://www.mexconnected.com/...jrose/jjrpiedad.html. For more, see http://dns.montepiedad.com.mx/

I know in Mazatlan there are many. Monte de Piedad may even have several shops here. All I can say is that they also buy gold jewelry and sell it in bulk. They tie up a bunch of pieces together and sell it in groups. It's very interesting to look through the bunches and maybe score an antique piece amongst the other gold. It especially appeals to my significant other!
