moving to Nayarit

I am moving to Sayulita in October with my three dogs, my clothes, tools both hand and power, a generator and a few personal items. I have learned that I need to make a complete inventory of items that I am taking, in Spanish, but am unclear on what I can take and cannot take. I am ok with paying a duty fee on some of my power tools and possibly my generator, any comments on that???...I know what I need to do for my dogs. I will register my truck and utility trailer with the Albuquerque Mexican Consulate. I think that I am clear (as mud) on what I need for my paperwork. Just a bit hazy on what I can do about taking my tools, CDs, LPs, etc. with me....comments GREATLY APPRECIATED...J

To answer you fully would take a book. In fact, there are books out there, such as
Living in Mexico, with updates regarding the most recent sea change in Mexican immigration law on Rolly Brook's website http://rollybrook.com/...Directory.htm#Useful and ongoing updated essays on www.yucalandia.com .

What Can I Bring into Mexico: Mexican Customs Rules has subsections that describes the rules, and offers you a potential route to bring it all in without paying any duties. This exemption applies to personal household goods, not commercial quantities for starting some business. e.g. You can bring in tools, but "not a complete set of equipment for the installation of laboratories, clinics or workshops".

Are you planning on driving into Mexico with you household goods? ~ Menaje de Casa Rules (English) ~
and

Aduana: Menaje de Casa ~ (Spanish)

Why would you think you had to register your vehicles with the Mexican Consulate?

At most border crossings there are customs and immigration offices where you obtain your FMM tourist permit and your TIP or Temp. Import Permit where you will provide an original registration of vehicles,
copy of pink slip, and I always have copies of my USA and Mexican Insurance policies, drivers license ...
FMM=295 Pesos
TIP= about 550 Pesos
Vehicle deposit= between $200-$400 USD depending on age of vehicle...
