Ask them at the INM office. I believe you need 4 of each.

I needed 2 of each when I renewed a couple of months ago.
Best to ask at the INM office.
My photo studio makes them in blocks of 4.

They'll say 4 and then take 2. If you bring b/w they'll want color. If you bring color they'll say they're printed on the wrong paper. For us at least, it's always been that way!

Hello prmjcm,

When we got my FM2 in January, I needed 2 front and 2 side in color. No glasses and no smile.

Hi Vichil,

I haven't had to worry about forehead hair for many years now, but thanks for the compliment! (smiling)

Didn't they make you remove your earrings, like I had to do? : )

Morning La Isla,

No, don't have to worry about that either . . . . . I'm not one of those that look like they fell face first into a fishing tackle box either!

Buenos días, robt,

I was kidding around about the earrings. I had the feeling they weren't your thing. I love your description of young people who go overboard with the piercings!

Hi La Isla,
I knew you were kidding La Isla. contrary to some thinking, . . . . I have not lost my sense of humor! (smiling) I do bet though some of those folks sure do have a difficult time getting everything out and then back in for two photos! HA! I can just picture them trying to get away with such protests here, and then they would soon learn this is not the USA. (smiling)

I've never understood the appeal that punching holes in your face has for a certain subset of young people. It's true that I have pierced ears, but the two holes I have exist so I can wear earrings, not because I am enamored of the holes themselves. It would be funny to witness someone with multiple face piercings showing up for official photos at one of the crowded photo studios near INM in Mexico City, who is told to take them all out. I can imagine protests being made and ignored by the photo shop personnel.

Not only no forehead hair (or earrings, of course) here in Aguascalientes, but no hair covering your ears AT ALL. When we renewed this year, I had to have my photo taken four or five times. My hair is short and I finally have to dampen it and comb it all straight back (although I have NEVER worn my hair that way). I wasn't a very happy camper by the time I had satisfied all their whims.

On the other hand, John just got his passport renewed and I took the photos myself. They turned out well (of course they --the State Dept. doesn't even prohibit wearing glasses on the photo, which makes sense to me) and they were accepted with no problem.

Another time, I'll tell the rest of the story of our trip to the U.S. consulate in Guadalajara to renew John's passport. Why do we continue to think that just because we follow all the instructions of any government agency, that things will go well???

Hello Judy,

Your last sentence, in your post rings a lot of bells! Mass confusion isn't it! (smiling) Just when you think you have all the bases covered as the rule book is written . . . . . . they change the unpire! (smiling)

I renewed my FM2 this month. In the DF they required 3 front and 2 right side photos. In Morelia it took a half dozen attempts before they decided to take the ones that made me look like Eva Braun. So I had lots of left-over photos to choose from when I submitted my renewal here in the DF. I was very happy when the agent accepted a quite nice front view that had been rejected in Morelia. I gave him two Eva Braun side views with my hair plastered back.

The renewal took two trips to the INM office in Polanco. Each visit took about five minutes. And when I was done, they gave me back one photo. Even they don´t know how many they really want. But, wouldn't you know, now that I've mastered the steps for renewing, I read a few days ago that everything is changing again. <sigh>.
