Xalapa (Jalapa) info

Can't Post | Private Reply
there were some previous posts (to which I responded in forum and personally) regarding Jalapa and living there and realestate. Even paid to subscribe to a 'newsletter' with listing of rentals and properties for sale. Upon investigation, I have been informed that the listings are non existent and although promised further assistance with locating "other properties", have received no further info. So have paid for nothing and have wasted valuable time! I'm a bit miffed.

So my advice (should you be asking!) is watchout .....I guess Rolly was right with a previously posted comment about 'ok to visit but not to live there'!!!

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, but I will bypass the place forever. There are so many many places in Mexico that are better, now having gone there at the invite of the same group, it is easy to understand why it is not spoken of often. It isn't undiscovered, just ignored, and is a place much like Toluca, except it doesn't have a bypass, because it isn't on the road to anywhere.

As far as Mexico goes, there is no substitute for the real thing. You can get a very GENERAL idea about a place, online, which may lead to fantasy scenarios but being there will set you straight. And by being there, I don't mean for a week sipping drinks at the local bar. Walk the streets, talk to the locals and stay as long as you are able....a month if possible. You'll then, have a much better idea of where you are.

yep, you're right! BUT I did
live for a year in Veraruz so
am familiar with the
area...the state of veracruz,
veraruz city, Jalapa,
BocadelRio, and so forth so
had no illusions. My concern
is now about the 'false
advertising' done by certain
party(ies)!!! All previous
posts to my comment are
valid, my friends, Glad to
have you all around,

HELLO,

I don't like seeing Jalapa (Xalapa) Veracruz get a bad name for no reason. As a person who has visited and like Xalapa and a friend of lothers who have lived there and also like it, let me try to set the record straight.

Xalapa is a beautiful town. It has friendly people, excellent hotels, and even better restaurants. It has a very active culture program with free and inexpensive concerts and performances. It has a University (I believe it is the University of Veracruz, but I may be wrong).

Now with all that, it is not an easy town for incapacitated people. Like Zacatecas there are many steep hills and few level areas. It is also humid and tropical.

With all that in mind it is certainly a worthwhile place to visit, and I do know people who live there who wouldn't live anywhere else in Mexico. Adios. Jerezano.

hola!
Your response is good and accurate....I truly like the Jalap/veracruz area as you will note in previous posts. (I lived in veraruz for a year)
The original comment/complaint was directed toward the misrepesentation presented in a 'newsletter' for which I paid to receive false information and people involved therewith....not about the city itself.
This is a public forum of people helping people and we do expect info and referrals to be valid, do we not?
I extend my apologies for any misunderstanding I may have created for you and others...not my intent....just a little warning about receiving erronious info from a fellow poster. nada mas.
Thanks for your 'pep talk'...nos vemos.
