While I won't comment on the politics of this, there was something in this article that, if it wasn't so pathetic, would make one laugh! It said, "The measure would require around 8,500 gun dealers in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas to report sales of two or more high-powered semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines to the same person within a five day period." (emphasis mine)

So, wouldn't the 'bad guys' just wait until day six!?! I mean, who thinks up these things?

Hell, they already use "straw buyers" and the way I read the story, this restriction was for purchases at the same stores. Take Houston (used in another example) where a very quick Google search reveals 10+ gun stores. Pretty easy to do the math on that one. Won't comment on the power of the gun lobby and the politics but I am truly ashamed of the way that the US is handling or should I say: mishandling of this entire issue!
