Where to cross into MX, Eagle Pass or Laredo or ???

I travel with a church group on a bus that the church owns. It is a 29 passenger (looks like a shuttle bus). We go to Sombrerete, MX (between Durango and Zacatecus from East TX.

We crossed the border a few times in Laredo and because of LONG lines, etc. we started going through Eagle Pass. We like that crossing but the road beween Monclova and San Pedro is a bit narrow and desolate. We usually take the toll road from Toreon on to Durango and then the road east to Sombrerete.

The last few trips (4 times) we have been stopped in Gomez Palacio and ticketed for something we obviously did not do. Officers "took care of us" with on the spot payment.

We are now considering using the Camino Colombia Bridge near Laredo and then traveling the free roads south to near Zacetaus and then west to Sombrerete. We have done this in the past, but the road was pretty bumpy.

We would like to avoid the long wait for getting the permit for the bus, and we would also need to exchange money. Is there a place to get the vehicle permits, and get the tourist visas and to exchange money near the Camino Colombia Bridge? Would you suggest doing this?

Thanks,

Mister Magoo
