Only when you are dealing with other Gringos, or checking out the TV log.

Buenos dias? You think we of Mexico don't respect daily savings time? Gracias, there is a life beyond, much beyond simply dealing with gringos and the television. Some of us even go for days and weeks at a time without dealing with gringos and the television. Rumor has it that many never turn on the television, and some of us even subscribe to the local newspaper in Spanish. Yes, Virginia, there is daily savings time here in Mexico, and it does matter.

Dear Ms. jennifer;

I was merely referring to the well accepted notion the most Mexicans seem to be a bit less concerned with the absolute correct time than most Gringos. Possibly you should review some of your own posts on the subject over the past three years re: time of arrival of guest invited to an 7:00 PM event.

"Some of us even go for days and weeks at a time without dealing with gringos and the television. Rumor has it that many never turn on the television"

It's strange how perceptions vary. When I walk down the street at 9:00 PM at night anywhere near six corners here at Lakeside, I notice that almost every home or business has the television on.

I notice that lately you constantly use the pronouns "we" and "us". Have you, indeed, become a Mexican citizen? Was the process difficult? How long did it take?

Your humble servant,

uj

A Mexican friend of mine in Mexico City told me his take on daylight savings time. He said "When you go to work before the sun comes up and don't return before the sun goes down, of what importance is it to the workers of Mexico?".

Just a story, nothing more.

Whoa, Jennifer, Are we a little uptight over such an innocent statement?

Brava! I, too, get tired of the smug remarks making fun of our Mexican hosts.
