Can't Post | Private Reply
The Department of State has issued this Travel Warning to inform U.S. citizens traveling to and living in Mexico about the security situation in Mexico. This Travel Warning supersedes the Travel Warning for Mexico dated September 10, 2010 to consolidate and update information about the security situation and to advise the public of additional restrictions on the travel of U.S. government personnel...............................

Due to ongoing violence and persistent security concerns, you are urged to defer non-essential travel to the states of Tamaulipas and Michoacán, and to parts of the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi and Jalisco. Details on these locations, and other areas in which travelers should exercise caution, are below.

Casa, I don't know whether you were trying to find the "juicy part" of the document, but I did read the whole document and think it is well written and informative and would recommend the reading of it for anyone with an interest in Mexico.

I think this is just a rehash of their last warning, which was not helpful, and another attempt by the US government and the US media to scare the hell out of Americans, so they will stay in the US, vacation there and spend their money anyplace other than Mexico. T.

So I guess Spain is in on the plot against Mexico too. On 4/18, they issued a travel alert that happens to be far more detailed than that of the US. Could these warnings have anything to do with the daily discovery of new "narcofosas" in numerous locations around the countryside?

I believe even the Mexican govt has told people to avoid those highways esp. at night.

T, if you're regularly driving the roads in that area and think things are safe then I'll respect (albeit disagree) with your opinion. But if not then I don't really think you are in a position to poo poo the warnings. Show some walking not just talking.

It is really too bad the whole world is against poor Mexico with this global slander plot. You would think that the media would have caught on by now ........ I guess they are too busy at the fosas.

You caught my attention with the fact that Belgium issued a warning considering the fact that they just set a new record for not having a functioning government. I did go to their warning and there was a definitely similarity between their wording and the very similar working in Spain's warning.

Warnings are issued because incidents like these are happening and are predictable. Each bus attack occurred after the latest warning was issued.
