St Jude's Day

October 28 is St Jude's Day (El Día de San Judas Tadeo). It's a major festival day here in Lerdo.

It's a huge feast day in Mexico City as well. The Templo San Hipólito in Mexico City's Centro Histórico is a focus of major celebration and devotion. Here are some photos (start with this one and then click on the thumbnails in his photostream), enjoy.

Thanks to Rolly and esperanza I now know why I've been hearing really loud fireworks going off starting last night around 8 and continuing into the wee hours of today! I'm a 15-minute bus ride from San Hipólito church near the Alameda in Mexico City, and I could hear the loud booms even with my windows closed!
