Spending a night in Phoenix, anyone know a decent motel?

We stayed at a Days Inn on Van Buren last time & were surrounded by hookers & pimps.

Oh, those were just the regulars here, in Arizona on a visit from Lakeside.

We stayed recently at the Holiday Inn Express downtown. Was a decent enough place but what really made me enjoy it was the free high-speed internet connection in the room!

My most recent home before San Miguel was a bit east of Phoenix, and Holiday Inn Express was a good one in that area, too. One was on Apache Trail in Apache Junction, just east of Mesa, which is east of Tempe, which is east of downtown Phoenix.

Phoenix is a huge sprawling city--we drove 60 miles to get to areas across town. Tell me what area you are talking about and I'll see if I know someplace specific. You can reply privately if you'd rather.

If finding a good motel in Phoenix is a problem I would not suggest crossing inot Mexico!! There must be more than 300 motels in the Phoenix area ranging from ma and Pa, Motel 6, to 5 star. If you are entering the Phoenix area on I 10 or I 17 or US 60, they are everywhere. Why wouldnt you just go to a hotel res. site and look? BTW: The Van Buren area is very rough. One look and you can see that it is a "red" zone!

We couldn't get a connecting flight & had to spend a night in Phoenix. Had never been there. I booked this place because it was close to the airport & had shuttle service. Had not idea what kind of area Van Buren is till we were already there. I'm sure there are a lot of safe places in Phoenix.
