Sonora?

I am a new member, and have only traveled to MX two times. I am curious why there is not more info about Sonora? I have enjoyed my two visits to Hermosillo, Sonora and La Paz, BCS, is there something I am missing? I do realize that there is MUCH more of Mexico to see other than Sonora or Baja, but why the omission?

Excellent point. Sonora's a terrific state with plenty of tourism opportunities and a high quality of life. Why don't you pick up the ball and post the high points about your trips to Hermosillo over on the Travel Forum?

We were recently in Hermosillo and while the city is an odd shape (kind of like a lopsided wagon wheel) to drive and and get bearings in, the drivers were the most polite and patient I have seen in Mexico. Nice city.

About six years ago I was looking for a job teaching English in Mexico with the intention of moving down with my entire family. One of the schools that offered me a position was in Hermosillo. The other was in Chiapas. It was the beginning of the summer and for a couple of weeks I watched the weather on-line in both places. While it was rainy and cool in Chiapas, the daily temperatures in Hermosillo ran from lows of 108 to highs of 117!!!!! The owner of the school advised that most places in Hermosillo, including the school, had no air conditioning but did offer fans.

We moved to Chiapas.
