Shipping Estimate from Los Angeles to Chapala

Can't Post | Private Reply
Just to give a baseline for anyone interested:

I just received a shipping estimate from United Van Lines for 197 cu. ft. "door to door", Los Angeles to Cahpala at $2,700. Only thing not included is insurance at $20 per $1K of value. Transit time guestimated at 4 weeks.

These are boxes of houshold items and one piece piece of "furniture" 2' X 2' X 7'6"

This is in a closed wooden container 4' X 7' X 7'.

I'm checking more places now.

Three years ago we shipped: one sofa, a sideboard, dining room table, bedroom set, two twin beds, one desk, two upholstered chairs, two upholstered side chairs w/ wooden arms and legs, one box of "stuff", a tilt top card table and a folding kitchen table for $3000. Mayflower movers: they took care of all paperwork including menaje de casa (I am assuming they got one, I did not). No breakage. Timely delivery.

Estimate from Lake Chapala Moving (Allied/Mayflower). 8 x 8 x 20, door to door turnkey from Arlington, Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) including packing, loading, crating, etc., and menaje, $7625 plus insurance. I do intend to downsize pretty dramatically, so that's a worst case. If you know anyone in this area who needs top shelf furniture and lots of household and garden stuff at a fire sale price let me know!
