It's so fun to see this sort of news story about SOB in NOB.... Today the Denver Post/Associated Press reports:

"CATS CALLED ON TO SEND RAT PACK PACKING"

Rats of Atascaderos, take note. The tough city cats of Chihuahua are coming... and they are hungry!
Chihuahua state officials say they hope to collect an army of 700 felines for a frontal attack on Atascaderos, an isolated farm village 300 miles south of there. The cats are being collected... vaccinated and checked for rabies and then shipped by truck to Atascaderos where officials estimate the rat population at half a million. Health officials overseeing the recruitment of cats says, 'so far we don't have any cats', but an animal control agency has already promised 50, and with ads in Chihuahua newspapers, they hope to have about 200 ready to travel to Atascaderos this weekend.

"SMALL-TOWN MAYOR FATALLY SHOOTS RIVAL"

Mayor Candido Palacios of San Jose Estancia Grande, Oaxaca, stalked into a clinic and shot to death an opposition-party candidate for the major's job. The candidate, in this poor community of 900 near the Pacific coast, had threatened to audit the books of Palacio's administration, accusing him of 'misusing' city funds. (The mayor is nowhere to be found at press time.)

I don't make these stories up, folks. The mayor story could just as easily have happened NOB, but I don't think we have the smarts up here to think of the "cat solution".... and anyway the National Association for the Elimination of Cruelty to Animals would block it if we did (claiming cruelty to both the rats and cats I bet!!).
