The rules change from time to time, and I am not up to date on the current rules, but here are two starters: 1. You must use a customs broker. 2. Only a Mexican citizen can nationalize a vehicle Your customs broker can answer all your other questions and arrange to have the paperwork in the name of a citizen, and then transfer the new Mexican title to you after the deal is done. The cost is partly dependent upon the value of the vehicle. The range I have heard is $1,500 to $2,500 dollars. If the broker says he can do it all by mail and that you and the vehicle don't have to be there, DON'T do it. I got suckered out of $800 dollars on that kind of a deal. Be there to watch out for your interests. What you will get from the broker is just papers. With those papers, you will get registration and plates from the Tránsito office in the place where you live. There will be fees for that, too.
