SKYPE - LD on net worldwide, Anyone use?

SKYPE

Daughter in Indonesia has signed us up for this as they have used it for quite some time to talk with Euro and NAmerican friends in NPO orgs all over the world.

Since I have zero technical analysis skills I have been following the Vonage etc.... internet phone posts and thought someone may be familiar with this service or have some comment regarding it. Here is a link to Fortune Magazine article

Anybody use this? What pitfalls do you think are hidden here, cuz nothing ain't ever free!

I have used Skype for quite some time…the free version..which is a beta version…but very good, considering it is free…you can now add minutes for pay and talk as if it were PC connect and the other person answers with a phone. However, the business operates out of Britain and is not able to accept people’s credit card from the US if their computer’s IP address is Mexico. But they said they are working on that problem.

VOIP phones (Packet 8 or Vonnage or Lingo) are wonderful if you are in Mexico. $20.00 to $30.00 a month unlimited to US and Canada. High speed internet is necesarry but a computer is not.. just a regular phone. It can go with you where ever you go. Plug it in to High speed and you are back in business. No delay in speech, no static, no interference. At times it can be cheaper to call with it in Mexico than to use the regular Mexican phone service..
