Question for Wells Fargo Bank customers...

Can't Post | Private Reply
Does Wells Fargo have a toll-free-from-Mexico number for your use? What is it?

Many thanks!

Alice

Consider a post search for Wells Fargo. Lots of information there that may interest you regarding Wells Fargo and banking in general. Good luck.

Many thanks for your gracious reply. I did a search prior to posting my question and found no mention of a toll-free-from-Mexico number. Did I miss something?.

Wells Fargo 800 number

Mexico
- Call using Telemex
001-800-674-7000 Country-to-country calling available to/from most international locations.

I have no idea what charges Telmex may add on for using a 800 number. If you have access to a callback service the US 800 number is 800 869-3557.

I thought that number looked familiar, but not as a Wells Fargo Bank number. That's the generic phone number you use to access the MCI (ex Worldcom) voice network from Telmex phones in Mexico. Although you won't incur any charges from Telmex, at least when using payphones, I believe MCI will bill the call to either your calling or credit card (you'll be prompted to enter a number) at whatever international rate you're normally charged.

Alice - have you investigated the services Wells Fargo offers via their web ("online") front-end? Even for resolving account problems, which may take a couple of days of secure message exchanges, I find it's better than the interminable waits for phone customer service, and faster for cutting through the scripted replies of the first-tier answer-droids.

Actually, the top of the contact page that I assume you picked the number from very explicity identifies the numbers as being MCI access numbers:

Quote

Wells Fargo customers outside the United States can call Wells Fargo customer service toll-free.
~~~~
Customers calling from all other countries should follow the steps below:
  • Dial the MCI International Access Code (see table below) for the country from which you are calling.
  • You will be greeted by an English-language voice prompt or an English-speaking MCI operator, who will request a credit card or calling card number.
  • In response, enter or say the Wells Fargo phone number you wish to be connected to:
    Personal Account Assistance: 1-800-TO-WELLS [1-800-869-3557]
    Online Customer Service: 1-800-956-4442
  • The good news is that it looks like Wells Fargo is indicating that they're flipping the MCI bill, although with MCI's usual grace for handling billing your "¿Quién sabe?" may be entirely applicable.
    Hi Jack!
    We are very satisfied longtime California Commerce Bank Customers. There is no chance of our using Wells Fargo. I asked the question for friends who are in an apparent done-deal with WF. Yikes! What is the world coming to?
    Thanks for your info.
    Do you have experience using Quicken for online banking with CCB? I note on the website that one can download transactions in the form of a QIF file. Quicken has indicated that it will no longer support this method in subsequent releases. If you know whether CCB will begin supporting direct downloads in the future, I would appreciate hearing about it.
    Hi Brian!
    We have no experience using quicken with CCB. We call them on toll free from Mexico and toll free from the US lines for all transactions.
