Is anyone familiar with a new tourism program called "Pueblos Magicos" in the state of Jalisco?

Pueblos Mágicos is a federal program managed by SECTUR, Secretaría de Turismo, designed to promote tourism and investment in selected areas. It is not restricted to Jalisco: fifteen towns in Mexico were declared magic towns, including Tapalpa and Tequila in our home state.

Other cities which have been designated Pueblos Mágicos de México are Comala, Colima; Cuetzalan, Puebla; Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato; Huasca de Ocampo, Hidalgo; Izamal, Yucatán; Mezcaltitlán, Nayarit; Pátzuaro; Michoacán; Real de Catorce, San Luis Potosí; Tapalpa, Jalisco; Tepotzotlán, Estado de México; Taxco, Guerrero; and Tepoztlán, Morelos.

This program, which has been in operation for a couple of years, is a SECTUR initiative in coordination with Desarrollo Social, Economía, Educación Pública, Trabajo y Previsión Social, CONACULTA, Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, FONART y el Consejo de Promoción Turística de México, as well as private enterprise.

Its purpose is to foment tourism in culturally important areas in an effort to show that Mexico is more than simply sun and the beach.

Thanks, Jennifer! This is a big help.

Question -- where did you find that list? I haven't seen the complete index on the Web.

This list has appeared in a zillion newspaper articles. But since I couldn't recall all of the cities from memory, I found it at Sectur's website.

If anyone can find the URL reference, it would be a big help.

Did anyone else notice there are only 14 of the 15 towns mentioned. I guess the last one truly is magical!
