When I first moved here, I was frustrated by the lack of English-language writing on Mexican politics (at least on Mexican politics that didn't obsess over what the U.S. and foreign governments saw as their particular concern... ik.e., not everything revolves around narcos, or migration or — an issue that has receded for now — U.S. access to Mexican energy sources). For a long time, I did quite a bit of that kind of posting on my own site, but with others doing so, I'm less likely to do so... and whether or not I was "good" isn't for me to say. http://ganchoblog.blogspot.com and http://aguachile.com are the two best at providing information on national political issues and concerns I've found. The first, by Patrick Cocoran, is no longer IN Torreón, but follows the general security/political trends in Mexico rather closely. If nothing else, he keeps up with what the political columnists are saying. Aguachile's author is an academic specializing in studying the PRD, and he focuses perhaps more than I like on that party, but is very, very good. Lourdes Cardenas, at the El Paso Times writes Mexico In Focus (http://elpasotimes.typepad.com/mexico/) which, naturally, tends to look more at Juarez and northern border issues (i.e. migration, narcotics related violence) than others, but she also follows the Mexican political scene and — with national elections next yet — plans to spend more time on that. http://mexfiles.net http://voiceofmexico.com http://editorialmazatlan.com
